The Goose at the OVT - history
There was a pub on this site called the Bell and Shovel Inn from at least 1839 (or before).
It was renamed to the Malt Shovel from 1859.
The Holt Brewery changed it to Bournbrook Hotel around 1876.
For a short period it was Firkin Pub.
And now of course the Goose at the OVT.
OVT stands for Old Varsity Tavern.
