Bishop Asbury's Cottage - history

A cottage, now a musueum, probably dating to 1700, built of brick with a tile roof.

Was the boyhood home of Francis Asbury (1745-1816).

He emigrated to Amercia in 1771, and later became the first Methodist Bishop of America.

A Grade II listed building since 1955.

Opening times

Open to appointment only for group visits.

The cottage also open on special days usually in May and September for free.

Usually open in September for Heritage Open Days.
