In brief
A Roman Catholic church in Solihull Town Centre, designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin in the Perpendicular style. Work to build it began in 1838. In 1878, the West porch was added and chancel rebuilt to designs by Charles Hansom. It's now next to John Lewis and the John Lewis car park.

St Augustine's Catholic Church - history
The oldest surviving A. W. N. Pugin's church of 1838-39.
Built of red brick, it's lancets was later replaced with perpendicular style windows of 1904.
The porch is said to be of 1884, but is dated 1897.
The 19th century chancel (Blessed Sacrament Chapel) dates to 1878, by G. Hevingham although J. A. Hansom & Son and local architect E. B. Endell may have done it.
The perpendicular window was of 1866, but has bee re-set.
A new brownish-res brick building by Brian Rush was built in 1977-79 at a right angle to the old one.
In 2010, Daniel Hurd made things better with rendering inside.
