St Andrew's Carters Green - history

A day school opened at Old Meeting Street, West Bromwich in 1869 and the building was used for Sunday worship.

The Parish of St Andrew, West Bromwich was created in 1879 as part of the Diocese of Lichfield, while worship continued at the premises in Old Meeting Street until the 1920s.

Work began on a new church building in 1915 at Carter's Green.

The First World War prevented much work being done and the official foundation stone was not laid until 1922.

The first part of the building was completed in 1924.

A new social area, kitchen and other facilities was completed in 1982.

A coffee lounge was created near the kitchen in 1998.
