Hotel Du Vin (formerly Birmingham & Midland Eye Hospital) - A Birmingham Gem!

This is a truly wonderful building and a great example of how a landmark Victorian building built in 1823-24 can be sympathetically transformed into a 66 bed luxury boutique hotel.

Here we take a look at the building and its history.  For the hotel may we suggest you go to www.hotelduvin.com.

Designed by Payne and Talbot, the hospital was built to accommodate the hospital's move from Cannon Street in 1823.  This followed a campiiagn by British eye surgeon, Joseph Hodgson, to open an eye hospital in Birmingham.

The hotel has done well to retain its Victorian red-brick facade.
