In brief

Bournville College relocated to a site in Longbridge that was being developed by St Modwen (following the collapse of MG Rover in 2005). It was the first building to open in 2011. Following the merger with South & City College Birmingham in 2017, they kept their name, but by 2020, they had been rebranded as South & City College: Longbridge Campus.

Bournville College - history

George Cadbury established the college in 1913 to cater for the education of the local population, including the workforce of the nearby Cadbury chocolate factory, and was named Bournville College from 1949. The college relocated to Bristol Road in 1972 (on a site close to Manor Farm Park). This is now a retirement village. Further expansion took place in the 1970s, and they moved to a new purpose-built campus in 2011 at Longbridge (what had been the site of North Works and West Works of The Austin Longbridge Car Factory, later MG Rover until they collapsed in 2005).
