Selly Oak Hospital was sited between Oak Tree Lane and Raddlebarn Road from 1897 to 2011 on the site of the Kings Norton Workhouse (dating to the 1870s). Some of these buildings survive.
While The Oaks in Selly Oak has seen many new houses built in Selly Oak, many of the former historic Kings Norton Workhouse buildings survive on the site, and can be seen today from Raddlebarn Road and Oak Tree Lane in Selly Oak. The Workhouse was built in about 1870. Selly Oak Hospital occupied the site from 1897 (as Kings Norton Union Infirmary at Selly Oak). The NHS took over the site in 1948 and it was renamed Selly Oak Hospital. It was open until 2011 (moving out when Queen Elizabeth Hospital opened in Edgbaston in 2010).

Some buildings were demolished (including the Outpatients). During the 2010s, the site of Selly Oak Hospital was redeveloped as housing under the name of The Oaks, by MIA Property Group.
A red brick building on Oak Tree Lane has been restored and was opened as Busy Bees Nursery in 2020.
