The Garrison (formerly The Peaky Blinder Pub) is on Dale End, Birmingham, B4 7LS

 

In brief

The Peaky Blinder Pub opened on Dale End below The Square shopping centre in 2014, a year after the success of the first series of the BBC's Peaky Blinders created by Steven Knight. Renamed to The Garrison in the autumn of 2022. Closed for good as of 2024.

In 2014, a year after the success of the first series of Peaky Blinders on BBC Two, fans opened a pub on Dale End. 

Initially with a pub sign with Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy).

The first street art of Peaky Blinders was painted on the left hand side of the pub around October 2016.

By November 2016, The Peaky Blinder Pub put out a sign on Dale End saying "No kids, no WiFi, just good quality beer". Dale End, B4 7LS. "All welcome!"

Most buses that go up Carrs Lane, have to pass The Peaky Blinder Pub on Dale End, before heading onto Albert Street, and onto the other side of Moor Street Queensway.

The Peaky Blinder street art was repainted around April 2018, this would not be the last time the art would be changed.

Street art was going up to make it look like The Garrison Secret Speakeasy, around June 2019, the art was not finished at this point.

By August 2019, The Garrison Secret Speakeasy street art at The Peaky Blinder Pub was complete. At the time the taxi rank was temporarily in front of the pub.

By May 2021, the street art had changed again, just showing Arthur Shelby, a classic car and another Peaky Blinder.  By June 2021, bus stops had to change with lower Bull Street closing for the Eastside Metro works, and there is now a bus stop outside of the pub, making it harder to get photos from the bus.

Renamed to The Garrison in the autumn of 2022, as the original Garrison in Bordesley / Small Heath is unlikely to reopen. New street art was painted before roadworks were opened up on the pavement in front of the pub.

By Christmas Eve 2022, the pavement roadworks seemed to have been filled in with temporary tarmac, and you can now see The Garrison street art from the bus on Dale End.

Sadly closed down in 2024 due to the impending redevelopment of The Square as the Martineau Galleries.
