The Anchor Digbeth - history
The Holt Brewery Company got Birmingham pub designer legends, James and Lister Lea to design their pub which would be at the corner of Bradford Street and Rea Street. It opened in 1901 and would be called The Anchor. Built of red brick and terracotta (the terracotta probably from Hathern Station Brick and Terracotta Company in Loughborough). There is entrances on Rea Street and at the corner of Bradford Street. Today the pub is to the left of Birmingham Coach Station (and the short stay car park). Historic England granted the pub Grade II listed building status in 1991.
