Victoria Law Courts - A Birmingham Gem!

The Victoria Law Courts located on Corporation Street is a Grade I listed red brick and terracotta building designed by Aston Webb & Ingress Bell in 1886.

Victoria Law Courts are now home to the Birmingham Magistrates' Courts.

The foundation stone for the building was laid by Queen Victoria in1887 and the courts were opened in 1891 by the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The courts were built by Birmingham firm John Bowen and Sons,

The courts were opened in1891 by the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The building is of an Arts and Crafts style and is faced entirely in deep red terracotta from clay brought from Ruabon in North Wales. The building is also covered in intricate terracotta ornamentation with a statue of Queen Victoria by sculptor Harry Bates at the main entrance.

The interior of the building is also immaculately faced, this time with sandy-yellow terracotta and intricate ornamentation, the terracotta produced by Gibbs and Canning of Tamworth.
